Arthur’s one man band live performances incorporate looping techniques and several distortion techniques. Many people have commented that his live performances, when performed in this fashion, are in fact superior to his studio recordings. However, beginning with his fall 2006 tour, Arthur has incorporated a full band, The Lonely Astronauts. The Lonely Astronauts is the band originally started as Joseph Arthur’s touring band. Joseph and the band have recorded and released two studio albums together thus far, titled Let’s Just Be (released in April 2007), and Temporary People (released in September 2008). The Lonely Astronauts are:
